Mit der FirePro V4900 definiert AMD seinen Einstieg in die professionelle Computergrafik neu: Diese Grafikkarte unterstützt bis zu sechs Bildschirme, bietet DisplayPorts der Version 1.2, ist mit einem Gigabyte GDDR5-Speicher bestückt und kostet lediglich 189 US-Dollar (in europäischen Preisvergleichen ca. 150 Euro).


AMDs FirePro V4900 beherrscht DirectX 11, OpenGL 4.2 und OpenCL, der Grafikchip setzt sich aus 480 Stream-Prozessoren zusammen. Der GDDR5-Speicher ist über ein 128 Bit breites Interface mit der GPU verbunden und erreicht eine Bandbreite von 64 GB/s. Architektonisch ähnelt AMDs FirePro V4900 dem Desktop-Modell Radeon HD 6670. AMD beziffert den maximalen Stromverbrauch der Grafikkarte auf weniger als 75 Watt, so dass kein zusätzlicher Stromanschluss benötigt wird. AMDs FirePro V4900 kommt in ausgesuchten Workstations von Dell, Fujitsu und HP zum Einsatz und befindet sich auch auf dem Weg zu den europäischen Fachhändlern.
